In New Deli, Head of Marketing of Nokia in India, Devinder Kishore officially stated that «soon» company will show a series of phones with touch screens, including smartphone in N series.

Obviously, the device will be based on fifth version of S60, which was announced togather with Nokia 5800 Touch. Is not known what name will the model get, and how it will look. However, this did not prevent the resource Engadget propose their own skit, a synthesis of Nokia N96 and Nokia 5800.

From N-smartphone with a touch screen are expected more features than from Nokia 5800. Most likely, this will be reflected in better camera (for example, an 8 Mp).

Finally, the most important question about the statements of Kishore is how soon is the promised release.

It is anticipated that this will happen before the end of the year.

Today LG unveiled the successor of the extremely popular LG Prada phone. This time some fancy features come to compliment the exquisite looks of the designer phone. And believe it or not the only difference in design is the addition of a QWERTY keyboard (yeap - you got that right, keyboard).

While LG haven’t yet announced the detailed specification list of the Prada II (a.k.a. KF900) all of its highlights are already known. For starters, a 5 megapixel camera with Schneider-Kreuznach certified lens comes to replace the modest 2 megapixel shooter of the original Prada.

In an attempt to gain new market territory, outside the if-it-ain’t-shinin’-I-ain’t-buyin realm, LG have also included 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity in the KF900 Prada II. HSDPA is also on board, improving data transfer rates even further.

The new Prada mobile will be available though major mobile dealerships in Italy, UK, France, Germany, Spain and Netherlands in the 4Q of 2008. The pleasure of having one to squeeze in your pocket is worth 600 euro (810 US dollars).

RIM finally officially introduced BlackBerry Storm - the first BlackBerry touch screen smartphone, which will be available in late autumn. Initially, it will be offered only to subscribers of the operator Verizon Wireless in the U.S. and operator Vodafone in Europe, India, Australia and New Zealand.

update: TELUS will be first carrier to offer BlackBerry Storm 9530 to consumers in Canada. No pricing info available yet.

Virtually all control is done through touch interface. You’ll feel a tactile effect when pressing and it’s made for a greater resemblance to a hardware keyboard, as well as support for various combinations of clicks and gestures.

Built in accelerometer can automatically switch the screen orientation between the vertical and horizontal modes. Depending on the mode of operation, it uses different types of virtual keyboards - SureType when vertically and QWERTY, when horizontally.
HTML browser also works in both horizontal and vertical modes. Double-clicking will increase the desired site, and by holding on the screen, you can scroll the page. The browser supports file downloading, works with audio and video streams, has built-in support for RSS and so on.

Media can play movies in full screen mode, play-lists can be created directly on the smartphone and you can adjust it with equalizer with 11 presets.

In the U.S. smartphone will be available as BlackBerry Storm 9530 supporting networks CDMA EV-DO Revision A, UMTS/HSPA (2100 MHz) and four bands of EDGE/GPRS/GSM. This will enable subscribers of Verizon care no difficulty with incompatibility of standards, when traveling outside the United States.

The European version is indexed as BlackBerry Storm 9500 and will be able to work in networks of UMTS/HSPA (2100 MHz) support quad-band EDGE/GPRS/GSM.

3.25 inch touch-screen display with a resolution of 480×360 pixels, is probably the best of this smartphone, but 3.2 Mp camera with autofocus and flash, embedded GPS-module, 1 GB of internal memory, support of microSD cards (up to 16 GB), 3.5 mm jack for headphones and an opportunity to listen to stereo Bluetooth (A2DP/AVRCP), will just make your life easy.

The battery capacity of 1400 mAh provides up to 6 hours of talk time (3G) and up to 15 days in standby mode.

Size is 112.5X62,2×13,95 mm and the weight - 155 grams.

The Blackberry Storm is not yet available, but it should be very soon.

Apple iPhone 3G helped win a good share of the U.S. market. So, until this device was release sales of iPhone smartphones on the market was at 11%, and after the launch of iPhone 3G Apple gained 17% of the market. Benefits had received the mobile operator At&T, whose services are used by the owners of iPhone: 30% of iPhone 3G buyers from June to August connected to At&T.

It is noteworthy that the American people chose a rather interesting model of «smart phones» - according to NPD, from June to August 2008 most smartphones have been sold by Apple iPhone 3G, BlackBerry Curve, BlackBerry Pearl and Palm Centro.

A new cameraphone Sony Ericsson Kate has been the main subject of info leaks recently, but we finally see better images of the device. Armed with 5 megapixel camera, this yet unannounced Cyber-shot looks like a mix between the Sony Ericsson K770 and Sony Ericsson C902.

Currently, not much is known about the Sony Ericsson Kate, but as rumors go, it should sport a xenon flash, camera mode switch, and Smile shutter feature. It will also have UMTS support.

The Sony Ericsson Kate is definitely thicker than the Sony Ericsson C902, but still looks good, although a bit too conservative on the front and a bit too flamboyant on the back with this large shiny lens cover.

According to analysts Apple has managed to reach their 10 million sold iPhones for 2008 three months before the actual end of the year. It looks like Apple has sold from 7 to 7.5 million iPhones in Q4 of the fiscal year (Q3 of 2008). That’s from 2 to 3 million more than it was previously estimated by specialists.

How do they count all those sold iPhones? Well that’s actually pretty simple. Simply track the IMEI. The IMEI is the International Mobile Equipment Identity number composed by an unique 15 digit code. The IMEI is placed on the back of the box of the iPhone. From the 15 digits there are two 6-digit sequences which are very important. One of them, the TAC or Type Allocation Code shows a particular build or set of manufactured iPhones. The other 6 digit number is unique to each iPhones. Which means every TAC has a maximum of one million iPhones attached to it.

Therefore it wasn’t that difficult for the Mac Observer guys to track the IMEI and count the 3G iPhones sold. By September Apple had about 8 million 3G iPhones manufactured. The last IMEI number was 9,190,680 and it matches an 8GB iPhone manufactured on September 29 and sold yesterday. However that doesn’t mean that all those 10 million iPhones out there have been sold to date. But they are likely to sell in the next three months. We’ll see in a couple of months exactly how many iPhones Apple has soldz worldwide in 2008.

So AT&T, maybe it’s time to roll out that BlackBerry Bold already. It feels like you have sold enough iPhones already!

via www.mobilewhack.com - thanks!!!
