Windows Mobile “down” by 2 Million
According to the results of fiscal year 2008, which ended on June 30, Microsoft announced disappointing results - reach their goal of selling 20 million licenses for Windows Mobile failed. Microsoft couldn’t get “just” 10 per cent of the set number. As a result, for the entire 2008 fiscal year, Microsoft managed to sell 18 million licenses of Windows Mobile OS for mobile handsets.
The reasons of failure to reach the figure of 20 million, many analysts point to Apple iPhone 3G and the delay in the release of Communicator Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. iPhone 3G did not overtake 2 million customers, they simply decided to wait for the new smartphone from Apple, says analyst from company In-Stat Bill Hughes. Release of Communicator from Sony Ericsson is able to increase sales of several devices with Windows Mobile installed in the future.
As the analysts, the new OS Windows Mobile 7 will be able fundamentally correct Microsoft’s case, which will operate for touchscreen devices.
