The Star Wars themed Droid 2 is going to be launched on Thursday and this Smartphone is going to be available to customers from September 30th. Named Motorola Droid 2 R2-D2 this mobile phone will contain a graphical design picture of the cute droid on the back and it will also depict the popular wars Astromech Droid that will come packed in a custom box that will resemble carbonite. In addition to this phone the existing customers will also get a Star Wars media dock along with a wired stereo headset that will be exclusively pre-loaded with customized R2-D2 notification ringtones and sounds. There also will be four live wallpapers and an unique R2D2 clock widget.
There also will be exclusive Binoculars applications and the Best of R2D2 videos with the original Cantina score. Verizon is also aiming to launch the exclusive Empire Strikes Back application for those people who are looking for the Android 2.1 OS. All Star Wars fans will be able to preview and download the ESB related content such as live wallpapers, sound and photo galleries and much more. For those interested to get this phone they require to sign up for a two year contract and data plan. They will be shelling out $349 before they are sending the $100 mail in rebate and the customers will receive the above-mentioned rebate in the form of a debit card that they can use as cash in any place where debit cards are accepted.
