For Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 lovers there is good news and that is the company is updating the operating system of the phone. The X10 is the first Android Smartphone that is equipped with a Qualicomm Snapdragon 1Ghz processor. The phone features a camera capacity of about 8.1 MP and it also supports GSM 850/900/1800 and 190Mhz. The Smartphone also provides the user with high speed internet and lots more.

Despite the presence of the above features this phone failed to match the expectations of a number of users and when it was compared to the other Android mobiles in the market it did not deliver what it had promised during the launch. This Smartphone comes with a much slower version of the Android platform and this is the reason why it failed to click with the consumers. The Android OS is only 1.6 that is a very old version and this is why the company is taking the major step to upgrade the OS for improving the performance of the phone. Sony Ericsson has decided to upgrade the Android OS of the phone to 2.1 so that it can at least compete with its other rivals in the market like Samsung and HTC that are offering a Android platform of 2.1 as well as 2.3.

Sony Ericson Xperia X10 is in news again as it has been voted to be The European Mobile Phone Of The Year 2010-2011 by The European Imaging and Sound Association. The Xperia X10 had to face stiff competition from a host of handsets that were released this year by many brands. The handset received the maximum votes from a jury that comprised of about fifty magazines of special interest across Europe. This popular handset received the maximum votes because it is one of the most highly rated phones that scored high on a number of areas including the uniqueness of its compactness.

Finally! Sony Ericsson unveiled its first Android-smartphone and called it Xperia X10, and not X3 or Rachael, as it was rumored before.

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 – is a functional monoblock with no keypad equipped with 4-inch touch screen display and 8-megapixel camera. Moreover, the oppor of the camera include not only auto-focus and digital zoom, but also image stabilization, face and smile detection and touch-focus.

The X10 will run Android 1.6 Donut, coming with a new UX (user experience) platform, which provides a unique user experience, as it’s “combining best-in-class entertainment features with signature applications, unrivalled integration of social media services and a rich graphical user interface.”

With the X10, users will have access to both Android Market and Play Now Arena. At the same time with the X10, Sony Ericsson will introduce two new features: Sony Ericsson Timescape, which “manages all your communication with one person in one place – you can browse through your conversations the bright way to check out your Facebook, Twitter, photos, emails, and texts all in one go”; and Sony Ericsson Mediascape, which “is the smart way to get all the music, photos and videos you want from your favorite friends and artists. It accesses content from everywhere – your phone, YouTube, PlayNow – and presents everything for you.”

Several live photos of the first Android-phone from Sony Ericsson hit the Internet today. However, the name of the device is not clear yet: previously it was rumored as Rachel, Xperia X3 and recently we heard that the company wants to name it XPERIA X10.

Judging from the photos, the Android phone will be named either XPERIA X10 or X3.

The official announcement of the deviceis planned on November, but but some specifications are available today: , the phone is equipped with 4″ touch screen with a 852×480 pixels resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1 GHz, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS.

The customers will have an opportunity to buy the phone at the beginning of 2010.

According to rumors the first phone running from Sony Ericsson running Android will be called XPERIA X10, though previously it was rumored as X3.
This model is also known under the code name Rachael. the device, probably, will go on sale early next year, maybe in January. It is assumed that the smartphone will be announced very soon – in November.
