ST Ericsson, a joint venture of STMicroelectronics and Ericsson, announced release of a new generation of musical chips STw5211.
Reportedly, the new digital-analog converter will allow to create compact music device of superior quality with twice more playback time than the standard is. This was achieved through a combination of technology PTE (Playback Time Extender) and a audioprocess with a the ratio of signal to noise ratio 102 dB.
Among the possibilities STw5211 is worth mentioning harmonic distortion factor of 66 dB, working at frequencies from 8 to 192 kHz, size 2,6 x2, 6 mm. The manufacturer states that the new chip will be released in April, and mass production will begin in August.
