Garmin Oregon 550 and 550t GPS navigators

A well-known manufacturer of navigation devices, Garmin has released new GPS navigators for pedestrians, cyclists and other users, in addition to core functions can also make photographs with a camer having resolution of 3.2 MP.

Rogers announces HTC Dream and Magic for Canada

Canada is recently on top of mobile news, espacially when it comes to Android handsets, and this time Rogers Wireless has announced 2 upcoming Android smartphones.

HTC Dream – the T-Mobile G1 in the US and the HTC Magic – the MyTouch 3G in the UK.

Both devices will be exclusively sold by Rogers starting June 2, 2009 – meaning in 25 days from now.

The main difference between them (apart from the different design) is that the Dream has a hardware QWERTY keyboard, while the Magic doesn’t – but it will come with Android 1.5, which features a virtual QWERTY keypad.

Rogers said nothing about the prices of its new phones – let’s hope they’ll not be on the hefty side

Asus Eee 1002HA

A new day and a netbook from Asus Eee series. At least, this feeling I have recent times. Asus has released in Japan Eee 1002HAE netbook, an improved version of known model 1002HA.

Changes arn’t global – novelty differs from its predecessor with a new processor Atom N280 1,66 GHz (as against N270 1,6 GHz in 1002HA), as well as the aluminum case.

Other specifications are 1 GB memory DDR2, a hard drive of 160 GB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, 10″ display 1024×600. Unchanged are size and weight (264x181x27,7 mm, 1.2 kg), as well as battery for five hours.

So far no news about the release of the upgraded version outside of Japan, where it will be on sale from May 16 at a cost of $506.

Android 1.5 Cupcake update next week

And so time for SDK and preliminary versions ended – OS Android 1.5 Cupcake goes live in the U.S. at the end of next week.

The message, posted on the T-Mobile forum, says that the update will be delivered via wireless channels :) , to all owners of T-Mobile G1. In the UK the process is already running, in the United States, it will be finished in May.

The main improvements of the Cupcake update are:

• Virtual keyboard (G1, it might not be necessary, but for other devices such as Vodafone Magic, it will be very useful)
• Extended range of functions to work with video (recording, playback, transfer to YouTube)
• Uploading images to a Picasa Web Album
• Accelerometer
• Stereo-Bluetooth (A2DP profile and AVCRP)

Nokia 6750 Mural through FCC coming to AT&T

On the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website was found docs regarding clamshell Nokia 6750 Mural. It is unclear what kind of device is it – a mobile phone or a smartphone similar to Nokia 6650 fold, presented last year. Of the specs of Nokia 6750 in the documentation are mentioned – standard 3G (850/1900 MHz), Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, microSD slot, and camera. By design the device also resembles Nokia 6650: a clamshell with an external display and music playback control buttons on the top cover.

In the U.S. Nokia 6750 Mural will be sold by AT&T, because one of the buttons on the device is marked CV – a service to access Cellular Video, provided by At&T. When the 6750 Mural will be on sale, and will be presented its version to the other regions, is not yet known.

Bell Mobility to offer Palm Pre in Canada

Yesterday we posted about expected release of Palm Pre in Australia and now its time for Canadian mobile users as long-awaited Palm Pre will be reaching their country soon – probably in the second half of 2009.

Pre will be available via Bell Mobility, Canada’s second largest mobile operator.

The Canadian Palm Pre will have similiar features of Sprints expected one – EV-DO connectivity, a 320 x 480 pixels multi-touch display, GPS, Wi-Fi, a full QWERTY keyboard and the already-famous WebOS platform.

Price of Palm Pre was announced yet, however, Bell will probably sell its Pre for about 200 Canadian dollars on contract.

Nokia E52 – hands on video

Nokia added to its E-series another phone – E52, with a number of obvious advantages.

Among those  is the battery capacity of 1500 mAh, which allows the phone to have a talk time of 8 hours without recharging. Externally the Nokia E52 is very much like E55, only keyboard in the usual digital, rather than a compact QWERTY.

As we can see, the technical specifications is also fully consistent with the model E55 (except the keyboard), the E52 is cheaper at EUR20. It seems that the release of this Nokia phone allows users to choose which method of messaging the prefer.

Myst for iPhone for $5.99

Myst was first released for the Mac in 1991. Then it was developed for virtually all computer platforms and remained popular until 2002.

Now turn and came to the iPhone. Myst for the iPhone can be bought in the App Store for $5.99. The game is quite large and takes up 1,5 GB.

India to have 500mln mobile subscribers by 2012

Managing Director of Mobile Marketing Association in an interview to The Economic Times said that by all the estimates, by 2012 India will have 500 million mobile subscribers. These figures certainly will be achieved if mobile operators will maintain the momentum of advancing deep into the country, where mobile communication is poorly developed. At this time in India 380 million people have mobile phones.

In comparison, China will reach 500 million subscribers by 2013. That is just one year later in India. So that mobile companies have more room to maneuver.
