Nokia sold 122 million phones - 40% of the market
Nokia announced today the results of II quarter of 2008, which proved, on the whole, positive.
The company sold 122 million on the phones market, which is 21% more than in II quarter of 2007 and 6% more than in I quarter of 2008. Thus, according to own calculations, the company controls about 40% of the world market, and is 2% over the last year position and 1% more than in I quarter of 2008.

The average cost of mobile phones Nokia fell from EUR79 to EUR74, but up to 40% of this decline was due to the strengthening euro.
Nokia kept the position in Europe selling 27.1 million phones - exactly as it was realized a year earlier. We should recall that Sony EricssonĀ warned investors that its II quarter profit will decline because of problems just in Europe. As we can see, this trend hardly touched Nokia.
The most significant growth (42%) in quarter traditionally shows the Asia-Pacific region, the largest market for Nokia. Business in North America is problematic for Nokia, while encouraging: sales grew by 9.8% compared with the II quarter of 2007.
