Nokia announced its first phone which will work in TD-SCDMA networks, the Chinese standart for 3G networks, – Nokia 6788. This model will be sold via the largest operator in the world – China Mobile.
As the manufacturer states, this model is specially designed for China Mobile and to use the services of the operator. Besides, Nokia 6788, which uses Symbian S60, has a design “inspired by traditional Chinese furniture and architecture.”
The device is equipped with a 5 megapixel camera with dual LED backlit 2.8-inch display, as well as high-speed access to multiple social networks.
“Nokia sees TD-SCDMA as being central to the successful evolution of 3G in China, and so is fully committed to this 3G standard. With a wide range of integrated China Mobile applications, the Nokia 6788 marks a new level of collaboration with China Mobile and offers enriched experiences to China’s 3G users. Nokia plans to introduce more TD-SCDMA phones in the near future, further boosting the development of this 3G standard in China,” declared Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, CEO of Nokia.”
Nokia will launch the 6788 sometime in December, for a price that is not known at the moment.
