Motorola shocks analysts with 28,1M phones

MotorolaMotorola published results for 2nd quarter of 2008. In general, producer recorded net profit of $ 4 million (a year ago was a net loss of $ 28 million). This was achieved through an excellent work of two units of the company. The third unit responsible for mobile phones, has still negative results.

Motorola has shipped 28.1 million phones, thus, ahead of LG (27,7 million). The U.S. company has retained its third place (after Nokia and Samsung), but LG isn’t far from it.

Sales from mobile phones raised to $ 3.3 billion, which is 22% less than in the second quarter a year earlier (when the crisis has already begun). The segment ended the period with a net loss of $ 346 million, a 14 million more than the loss of 2 quarter of 2007.

The company expects that 2008 will be ended with operating profit, especially due to work of Enterprise Mobility Solutions and Home and Networks Mobility.
