
Marvell announced that they reached an agreement with Trimble Navigation. According to this contract the navigational software from Trimble will be used for GPS-chipsets of Marvell.
As the partner companies say, this will allow chipsets to work more effectively. And also, from Marvell’s solutions can be used not only in mobile phones but also in other portable devices, including gaming consoles, Mediaplayers and digital cameras.
Besides GPS chipsets Marvell also supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and FM-radio. So far chipsets are intended for mass mobile phones, but as soon as it becomes possible, especially through co-operation with Trimble, Marvell expects to enter the market at a higher level: for example, smartphones and communicators.
It is expected that these models with GPS-chipsets will be on sale starting from next year.
