According to Citigroup analyst Mark Mahaney, this year Google will be able to sell a small number of smartphones Nexus One – in the range from 1 to 3 million units.
Revenues from the sales of the new smartphone will be only a small part of total turnover of the search giant. Thus, low margin, to which Google employs to stimulate sales, will eventually lead to what every one million Nexus One shipped will give only 1% of the overall profitability of the company, the income of which is 500 million to 1.6 billion dollars.

Pessimistic forecast of sales is due to several factors, including the lack of retail channel to the outside line and the choice of operator T-Mobile, which was only in fourth place in the rating of the U.S. cellular providers.
Meanwhile, Google is not fixed on only one Nexus One produced by HTC. It is expected that there will be other devices in the line. However, competitors are not lagging behind: experts believe that sales of Motorola Droid will exceed 7.5 million units this year, while the sales of Apple iPhone continue to go up.
