CES 2009: Android OS working on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Platform

At CES 2009 Qualcomm demonstrated the working Android OS on its Snapdragon platform . The demonstration was based on Snapdragon chipset and a display with a WVGA resolution of 800X480 pixels.

You can say it was not even a prototype of the device, but only the main working components of the system, connected to each other. As pointed out by Mark Frankel, vice president of product management of the production of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies, the company was pleased to show the work of Android on Snapdragon chipset with advanced functionality, which will appear in next generation of mobile devices.

Remember, as expected, the first devices based on Snapdragon will appear during 2009, products based on it are now beeing developed in some two dozen companies. In the composition of Snapdragon includes Scorpion processor with a frequency of 1 GHz and DSP-coprocessor with a frequency of 600 MHz.
