Magnus Andersson, one of the managers responsible for creating XPERIA X1, said that the new series XPERIA will not necessarily be associated with the operating system Windows Mobile. «Brand will not be associated with any single technology platform», - said Andersson.
The company Microsoft has responded very positively to the interest of Sony Ericsson XPERIA, held as part of the Congress in Barcelona a special press conference in Puerto Rico Sakaguchi - Head of Planning Department range.
It is anticipated that the XPERIA, which will be produced HTC, is designed largely for the U.S. market, where the popularity of devices on the Symbian is relatively small.

By the results of the second quarter in the market of smartphones unexpected changes occured: Research in Motion (BlackBerry) is becoming more and more popular and it took second place leaving behind Windows Mobile and. First place is reserved for Symbian, it takes more than half of total sales.
Thus, the operating system on BlackBerry, which is, for the most part, to service only a niche group (although recently RIM is expanding its coverage), was much popular then Windows Mobile, which is positioned slightly wider.
The strongest sales growth are seen from the iPhone - 230% compared to sales of the same period last year, the number of devices - 828 thousand. On the other hand, sales of Linux-devices decreased by 16%. Overall, the market for smartphones increased by 15.7%, they still took 11% of all mobile phones.

According to the results of fiscal year 2008, which ended on June 30, Microsoft announced disappointing results - reach their goal of selling 20 million licenses for Windows Mobile failed. Microsoft couldn’t get “just” 10 per cent of the set number. As a result, for the entire 2008 fiscal year, Microsoft managed to sell 18 million licenses of Windows Mobile OS for mobile handsets.
The reasons of failure to reach the figure of 20 million, many analysts point to Apple iPhone 3G and the delay in the release of Communicator Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. iPhone 3G did not overtake 2 million customers, they simply decided to wait for the new smartphone from Apple, says analyst from company In-Stat Bill Hughes. Release of Communicator from Sony Ericsson is able to increase sales of several devices with Windows Mobile installed in the future.
As the analysts, the new OS Windows Mobile 7 will be able fundamentally correct Microsoft’s case, which will operate for touchscreen devices.

In an interview with German magazine Connect, top-manager of HTC Lars Vaysvange(director for Germany, Austria and Switzerland) made several curious thoughts about the usability of Windows Mobile operating system and its inconvenience to newborn interfaces with touchsceen input.

According to him, the Windows Mobile operating system is well suited for business users, but for ordinary consumers it’s difficult to work with it using touch screens. Because of this, HTC is developing an interface HTC TouchFLO - including its 3D-version TouchFLO 3D.
At the same time Vaysvange said that the Internet Explorer browser for Windows Mobile subjecte to considerable criticism. To avoid consumer dissatisfactions, HTC adds to their products browsers of other companies - for example, Opera Mobile 9.5.
