A new cameraphone Sony Ericsson Kate has been the main subject of info leaks recently, but we finally see better images of the device. Armed with 5 megapixel camera, this yet unannounced Cyber-shot looks like a mix between the Sony Ericsson K770 and Sony Ericsson C902.

Currently, not much is known about the Sony Ericsson Kate, but as rumors go, it should sport a xenon flash, camera mode switch, and Smile shutter feature. It will also have UMTS support.
The Sony Ericsson Kate is definitely thicker than the Sony Ericsson C902, but still looks good, although a bit too conservative on the front and a bit too flamboyant on the back with this large shiny lens cover.

Well, well, what we have now? Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 got approved by FCC but that’s not all, you might not see it arrive that soon in your country. The FCC has approved a version Sony Ericsson X1i which is going to be released in Europe probably.
Xperia X1 will be without 3G support which doesn’t sound that good, does it.
But since the Sony Ericsson X1i was already approved we assume it’s only a matter of time until a North American version will be given the OK.
Sony Ericsson announced before that we won’t be waiting X1 too long and we’ll see it before Christmas for sure. It will arrive in most markets by the end of the year also.
Waiting for carriers to announce it.

Quite a long time there were rumors that Sony Ericsson is going to cut up to 2000 jobs, but has long remained unconfirmed, where exactly will it happen. The restructuring, which is symptomatic, began with North American offices in North Carolina, where by the end of the week will be cut 450 jobs.

The fact that such unpopular measures will be carried out, the leaders of Sony Ericsson reported yet in the middle of the summer. This decision relates to the large losses suffered by the company for the first half of 2008. To come out of the difficult situation the company has developed a new development scheme, under which 2,000 jobs will be cut.
It should be noted that staff reductions begin in North America, where the company has a very weak position. Apparently, Sony Ericsson acknowledged one more time its inability to get better sales resutls in the massive U.S. market - which is pretty good news, by the way, for the Korean company LG.

An interesting idea, a concept has been developed by one of the fans of Sony Ericsson phones. The idea is to create a device in the side-slider form factor, but only equipped with two touch displays in the front panel. The second display to be installed instead of sliding side QWERTY-keyboard. In doing so, the user receives twice as much space, which can be realized interesting appliciations.

This concept, a user with the nickname Exilim, called Xperia X5. In addition to images of the devices available are its technical specifications, which seem implausible: 850 Mhz processor, 40Gb flash drive and two display with a resolution of 800×480 and 800×240 pixels. Of course, this is such a device that’s unlikely to be ever be made, but there is little likelihood that the proposed form-factor will draw the attention of a vendor as an idea.

Well, we are sorry for posting all kinds of rumors (have a look here), but they really were looking truthful. We do have Sony Ericsson’s denial of recent reports that sales of its smartphone Xperia X1 are postponed to a later date.
“No! There is no delay. We assure that the phone will be available for sale in the fourth quarter, and we aim to implement this forecast”, - Sony Ericsson representative Merran Rigli said.
Previously, it was assumed that Xperia X1 will be available for sale the latest in December as the fourth quarter is key for manufacturers of mobile phones - because of the pre-Christmas intensive sales.

Howard Stringer, boss of Sony, spoke very cautiously about the situation around Sony Ericsson, the joint venture of Sony and Ericsson. In particular, in an interview to a German newspaper Die Welt, top manager responded to a direct question: whether the Japanese company will cease cooperation with Ericsson?
“For Sony Ericsson, it was a very difficult year, but redemption of partner shares has never been an easy decision - Stringer said. - We must work together, as did two years ago, or joint venture must find its own solution to its own problems”.
By the way, Sony recently lowered profit expectations of its unit, indicating, among other things, the company’s difficulties in the production of mobile phones.
