The Motorola Milestone is being hyped as a Smartphone that will have the features of MotoBlur and a Froyo version of Android 2.2. The unique advantage of having MotoBlur is that it combines the major social networking sites and several communication accounts at the same time. The other specifications that this phone reveals is the 5MP camera and a RAM that has a capacity of 512MB. Motorola recently disclosed that this new phone will be available in Europe in the fourth quarter of 2010. This phone is the successor of the original DROID that has been launched earlier by the company.

They say that the mobile manufacturer buys the Californian Azingo company, that develops the mobile platform based on Linux with a customizable user interface with support for touch input and animation. It also supports fonts zoom and operation with the camera.

It is not excluded that Motorola uses the operating time of Azingo to release its own line of mobile devices or to add new features to the model based on Google Android.

Motorola Milestone is not exactly the same phone as Verizon Droid. Motorola Milestone comes with multi-touch pinch&zoom gesture support, which, for some reason, was disabled in Droid. But it lost the free turn-by-turn navigation from Google, probably because this feature is not ready for prime time in Europe yet. Instead Motorola Milestone comes with a trial version of MOTONAV turn-by-turn navigation, which is free for the first 60 days, but then a license fee kicks-in.

It seems like the Motorola Droid is just the be beginning of the company’s rebirth back into mobile industry, as the CEO Sanjay Jha stated during the yesterday’s press announcement of the Droid.

Sanjay mentioned that at least 20 smartphones would be released. I wonder how many of these 20+ smartphones will be Android and how many will be WinMo? We know Moto isn’t interested in 6.5 but most likely is waiting for 7 to come out; will it be a 50/50 split between WM7 and Android?

Only time will be able to answer those questions.  I think thatb  it’s too soon for Motorola to make such a large commitment before posting some good quarterly numbers, but it shows that Moto is very confident in its future, and that should be applauded.

The Moto Droid will be available via Verizon from November 6. The estimated price is $199.99 with a 2 year agreement and $100 debate.
