Apple loyalists were excited to hear about the release of the iPhone 4S, but the unveiling wasn’t all cheers and enthusiasm. Although the new iPhone 4S was boasted as the “fastest iPhone yet,” and definitely comes with a wide variety of updates features not seen on previous iPhone, fans were hoping to see the unveiling of the iPhone 5 – not its mediocre little brother.

In spite of the great disappointment, Apple lovers and others need to be aware that the iPhone 4S is still capable of more than just simple texting and reverse phone lookup. While it may look just like the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4S does come loaded with new features that make it a worthwhile purchase for anyone with a model older than the iPhone 4.

The iPhone 4S comes equipped with an 8 megapixel camera that has the ability to take wider and more focused pictures. Even though smartphone cameras are becoming more popular for buyers, most Apple enthusiasts weren’t that excited over the camera addition – in spite of it working 33 percent faster, having a hybrid infrared filter, and allowing 73 percent more light into the camera.

What is highly exciting about the iPhone 4S is the processor. The phone is the first to have the new A5 dual-core processor in it, and is supposed to be much faster and have the ability to handle graphics better. The phone also has a new antenna system which is able to switch between two antennas to capture the best signal – improving both calling features and internet connection speeds.

The battery life has improved a little too. The new phone allows for 8 hours of calls, 6 hours of browsing over 3G and 9 over Wi-Fi, 10 hours of movie watching, and 40 hours of music listening. Not too bad.

So for those who are still interested or are just not wanting to wait around for the iPhone 5, the iPhone 4S will be available in stores on October 14th. While there are sure to be several who will refuse to buy the new phone out of stubbornness and their own disappointment, there will be more that will be eagerly ready to purchase them. So if you want one, see if you can’t pre-order with your provider.

The quality of cell phone cameras is increasing all the time. Though they’re still no match for professional equipment, a camera phone’s big advantage is portability. Because you carry your camera phone wherever you go, it gives you the unique opportunity to capture important moments when there isn’t time to get a professional shot. Social networking sites have opened up a whole new world for amateur photographers who have made their name for the cost of a smartphone plan. Here are a couple of helpful techniques and apps that can help you get a compelling shot with your Android.

Before you go app shopping, there are a few steps you can take to maximize your phone’s default camera. First, find your phone’s camera settings from the main menu. If it gives you the option, enable the anti-shake feature. The next time you take a photo, your phone will automatically detect when a moment when your hand is least shaky, minimizing the chance for blurry pictures. You can also usually turn on a photo grid. Whether or not you use a grid is a matter of taste but it could be useful when you are trying to compose shots.

Another useful thing to know is how to use your particular camera’s auto focus feature. Most camera phones, though not all, will take a second or two to automatically focus if you press and hold down the picture button. If you wish to take a photo without any delay, just press it quickly. Now onto the apps!

Action Snap

Available in free or $3.83 pro version

This app mimics a sequence camera that takes a quick succession of photos and is often used to capture action sports like skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfing. You can set Action Snap to take anywhere from 4 to 9 photos and assign the length of the interval between photos, anywhere from .1 seconds to 5 seconds. Use this app to capture short, motion filled bursts of activity. Due to the short duration of the sequence, its best to try to capture actions that are specifically planned by you or that you can reasonably predict like say, someone going off a diving board.

Frame Grabber

$3.01

This app is perfect for times when you think an interesting action might occur, but aren’t sure exactly when. Let’s say you’re watching a kitty that might do something unbearably adorable at any unpredictable moment. Simply take a normal video of your subject until they hopefully do what you wanted them to do; Frame Grabber will break your video into a long series of individual stills from which you can pick the best. The only drawback with this app is that the resolution quality of the video still will be less than that of a normal picture.

Fast Camera

$1.61

An app that lives up to its name, Fast Camera is the absolute quickest way to snap a picture, perfect for impromptu photo-ops. When you take a picture with Fast Camera, it instantly saves that photo to your gallery without leaving your viewfinder at all. Great for when you need to capture lots of photos quickly at irregular intervals. Keep in mind that you do sacrifice some picture quality in exchange for the speed.

Big Camera Button

Available in free or $1.99 pro version

Another app that’s true to its name, Big Camera Button turns your whole touch screen into a camera button. You’ll be able to take quicker photos and cut down on some of those lost opportunities caused by missing the tiny camera button. The full screen button also makes it easier to take self portraits and to take photos without anyone noticing by snapping photos from your hip which could come in handy if you want to take truly candid photos.

Anyone holding off on renewing their 4G Android phone contract with T-Mobile can probably renew without worry. Rumors that the company was on the verge of merging with AT&T were both confirmed and cast into question at the same when on Wednesday the Justice Department announced they would be suing AT&T in an effort to block the merger. The DOJ’s reasoning for the block is the fact that the result would be an uncompetitive situation in the mobile service market. If the planned merger were successful, then nearly half of the American population would be underneath an AT&T contract.

The Justice Department is not the only government entity casting doubt on the legalities of the potential merger. The FCC, which has been reviewing the merger plan, has also spoken out against it as an inhibitor of free market competition. But further criticism comes from obvious sources: additional mobile service providers. Sprint has protested the merger for sometime, and in a recent release has said they approve of the Justice Department’s decision to file suit against AT&T.

AT&T claims that the merger is the only way the company can build their 4G network. Without it they say they will be unable to compete against the 4G network capabilities of Verizon Wireless. But the DOJ investigation that preceded the suit concluded that there were indeed other options AT&T could take to implement a state-of-the-art 4G network. One such option was for the company to simply pay for the 4G network out of their own pocket.

The merger may still happen, since AT&T could simply settle as soon as possible with the Justice Department. But it’s looking less likely that it will happen the way AT&T wants it to. The race to acquire nearly half of all U.S. mobile subscriptions wasn’t going to be easy. If AT&T is headed by smart enough people, then they knew that was the case months ago.

So as far as that T-Mobile contract renewal goes…why not? The worst case scenario is that you avoid cancellation fees, and the best possible scenario is that the iPhone is finally put within your reach. As far as mobile services goes that sounds like best of all possibilities.

The Samsung Galaxy SII has been on sale for around 3 months in Asia and Europe and is causing a sensation. Sales quickly topped 3 million in less than 55 days, and have now exceeded the 5 million mark, with Samsung hoping for 10 million sales by the end of the year. The Galaxy SII has been the first phone to knock the iPhone 4 from its top sales spot in the UK, which has caused Apple some annoyance to say the least.

Although it is selling like hot cakes in much of the world the phone has still yet to go on sale in the United States, much to the annoyance of many American Android fans who want to get their hands on the latest Android powerhouse. The phone is expected to go on sale in the US in August, when it will be released on all major US carriers and sales will be expected to sky rocket yet again.

This US release date for the SII is still ahead of the planned release date for the iPhone 5 which will be the biggest threat to the SII’s conquest of America. Apple has taken issue with design features of the Samsung Galaxy phones that bear resemblance to the iPhone and is seeking to halt the import of Samsung smartphones to the US. This move, if successful, will no doubt be highly frustrating to the many American onlookers who are eagerly awaiting the latest Android superphone that much of the rest of the world has been enjoying for the past few months.

Although the SII is achieving record sales for an Android phone it is still short of the sales achieved by the iPhone 4, which is now a year old. But when the iPhone 5 goes on sale in September or October the SII will be the biggest threat to its market domination. Samsung will also have plenty of time to issue an even more awesome handset before the release of the iPhone 6 next year.

The HTC Desire is, remarkably, a mid-range smart phone with some amazing features that really make it seem like great value. HTC has established itself as the definite manufacturer of choice for the Android system, a system that has been doing extremely well for itself this year having rapidly expanded its market all of a sudden after a shaky start on Beta. This model, the HTC Desire, seems like an upgraded version of the earlier HTC Hero. That model was extremely successful on its own, so the Desire just adds a little extra to near perfection.

At just 11.9mm thick, the Desire is slim and sleek. Unlike many of the newer touch screens, it comes with real buttons on the bottom of the body as well as the 3.7 inch display. The 480 by 800 pixel resolution, with a super sharp AMOLED display, makes the screen a real beauty to behold as well as super responsive due to its capacitative nature. The built in pinch-to-zoom feature means that you can control the onscreen view easily with your fingers, zooming in and out as you please.

The version of Android the Desire runs is Android Eclair, with a HTC Sense interface and the super fast 1GHz Qualcom SnapDragon CPU. The Desire is really living up to the increasing expectations of a computer in a phone. The internal memory is impressive with a 576MB RAM, and the phone supports external memory of anything up to a massive 32GB. The 1400mAH battery means a long standby time, making the phone extremely reliable.

The 5 megapixel camera on the Desire includes face detection, auto focus and a flash. It is also capable of geo tagging due to the phone’s built in GPS receiver, supporting the HTC Footprints geo tagging software. The GPS receiver also works with Google Maps which is preinstalled, and has a digital compass.

The Desire’s music player is fully equipped to support almost all media formats and synchs easily with any Windows based computer. It also comes with an FM radio and a 3.5mm audio jack, meaning that you can attach and listen through any third party headphones.

When it comes to connectivity, the Desire’s 3G HSPA connection provides download speeds of up to 7.2Mbps. Alternatively, you can use Wi Fi to connect through WLAN for an even faster connection. Bluetooth 2.1 with enhanced data rate is another connection option, with a mini-USB connector and A2DP for wireless stereo headsets as well.

For a free HTC Desire, visit the Dial-a-phone website to sign up for a contract today!

The Samsung Wave has been described as one of the most powerful phones to date offered by the Samsung label. The device not only offers the TouchWiz UI but also operates Samsung’s new Bada OS system, complete with easy access to its own application store.

The Samsung Wave is the first Samsung phone to operate with TouchWiz 3.0, which houses so much more insight than the original operation system. The handset allows users to scroll through a number of apps using the various built in homescreens, you can also add widgets to these homescreens, with a total of up to ten pages available. Once one page becomes full, another is automatically added.

The widgets available include Google Suite, diary keeping apps, favourite contact apps and there are also a variety of others to choose from. You can drag any desired app onto the homepage by using the simple ‘widget key’ that is located in the top right hand corner of the screen. You can download desired apps by visiting the Samsung store.

The screen is extremely responsive to touch, making it an easy process to scroll through the apps available. These apps can be arranged in order both manually or automatically. When new applications are added the phone will instantly update their order.

A small jigsaw piece appears on the homescreen to inform users of a new notification, this could be a message, a missed call or alternatively an email or social network site update.

Other quirky features the Samsung has to offer include a comprehensive search menu; you can access this by simply tapping the phones screen twice. This feature allows users to search content, contacts, messages and the Internet with speed. The new Samsung Wave is certainly a slick and stylish device that is packed with endless features. Why not check out www.phones4u.co.uk now and see what offers you can find on this fantastic new handset?

12 Month Phone Contract deals are getting immense popularity again as they don’t bind you to specific company for longer periods such as 18 – 36 months as some price plans. You have the liberty to change you mobile after 12 months like the old days. While selecting a 12 months plan you must make sure to choose the right handset deal and should take the following things under consideration. Firstly, check the details about free minutes and texts. Moreover, also take in to consideration that do they offer cash back or bonus gifts. If you keep in mind the above mentioned variables then you will definitely find a perfect deal.

Vodafone is offering some really attractive 12 Months Contract Deals; for example, you can select Nokia 2730 Classic with 100 free minutes and 500 texts monthly at £30 monthly cost. You can select another deal to own a Nokia 6303i and Nokia X3 Red with the same package details as discussed above. You can also select Samsung B3310 Pink with the same price plan and free minutes/texts. You can also own some other Samsung handsets under same price plans such as B3410 pink, C3050 Black & Pink, S3100 Pink & Black, S5560 Black, Samsung Diva 7070 and Samsung Genio Touch White & Yellow. A lot of these phones are cheaper handsets but this is why the pricing is so competitive.

12 months plans are a bit expensive and the handset selection is not as good, but they are in high demand throughout UK as people want contract lengths to tumble. In the UK many people are bored with their handset within 6 months, if you have a 24 month contract this is a long time to wait for a replacement!

Certainly the iPhone is a wonderful piece of kit that combines style and functionality in a way that nobody apart from Apple has seemed to be able to do, but is it really the eighth most important invention of all time? Certainly the customers of a certain mobile phone network believe that it is.

A survey that was carried out amongst 4,000 consumers all aged between eighteen and sixty five years placed it in eight place out of a hundred options. That is only seven places behind the wheel which they had decided was the most important invention of all time.

The inventions that were considered to be more important that the iPhone were, in addition to the wheel, the Aeroplane, the light bulb, the internet, the computer, the ordinary telephone and penicillin. Immediately following the iPhone was the flushing loo followed by the combustion engine. Facebook was considered to be the 83rd most important and Google the 26th.

It is amazing that the iPhone is valued so highly, after all there are many other phones on the market that offer similar levels of performance and flexibility. In fact since its launch in 2007 over 42 million iPhones have been sold.

Certainly the survey suggests that many things are now considered to be better than sliced bread. Sliced bread was considered to be the 71st most important invention just ahead of the push up bra which came in at 78th.; in 100th place, at the bottom of the list, was the lowly clothes peg.

If you’re looking for more information on the new iPhone 4 or if you’d like to put in your order for this fabulous smartphone then visit Dialaphone.co.uk today and have a look at their superb offers!

With the Nokia X6 handset you are getting a good mobile phone deal, the company gives us a high-range music mobile in the X6. Is it worth every penny? Does it do more than just give us a Xpress Music fun? If you want to know the answers to these questions, read our Nokia X6 review.

To begin our little Nokia X6 review, we will have to tackle the looks of the handset first. Design-wise, we can say that we have seen better. With the straight edges, some people will find this rather on the boxy side. It is also rather thick. But once you move past these aspects, you will fall in love with the 3.2-inch touchscreen. It is a capacitive display with 16M colours. Capacitive is not common on Nokia handsets and this makes the Nokia X6 handset rather unique.

The interface of this handset is the 5th edition S60. Nothing new here. But with the much improved touchscreen, browsing your phone will be a whole lot better than other S60 handsets. This user interface is fairly easy to learn if you’re a newcomer, though. From out standpoint, using S60 on the Nokia X6 handset was pretty straightforward, no hiccups whatsoever.

In terms of messaging, this handset will give you standard touchscreen performance. On portrait mode, you’ll have the alpha-numeric keypad. On landscape, the accelerometer will work to give you a QWERTY keyboard. Message types supported are MMS, SMS, and email. The latter is easy to set up, no matter what platform you’re using. Connectivity on this smartphone is also outstanding. You’ll have every kind you’d need (GPRS, EDGE and 3G with HSDPA) plus Bluetooth, WiFi, and USB syncing. Of course, this means that you can check your emails or browse your favorite blogs anytime. And with Flash support, you’ll be able to view videos and load other heavy sites.

For the fun part, X6 has a music player, radio with RDS, and an impressive 5MP camera. This is an Xpress Music phone and you will be correct to expect it to have a fantastic music player and to be one of the best music phones. You can customise playlists and pretty much have fun with your music files. Then there is the Playlist DJ that plays music according to your mood. Sure makes choosing what music to play so much easier.

As for the camera, this handset has a 5MP unit. We expected nothing less since this is a high-range mobile. The photos we took were of great quality and were detailed because of the Carl Zeiss optics. The settings are easy to use and we ended up taking too many photos with the handset.

So here is our verdict: Nokia may not have gone for innovation when producing this handset but they did a good job on improving features that are already present in other phones. In our opinion, this mobile is worth every penny. Not in the lower range of cheap camera phones making the cheap music phones we would consider the nokia x6 to be a top of the line touch music phone.

One of the best ways to get connected with a list of multiple callers at the same time is to have a teleconferencing. What are the main advantages of the conference call? Well we should start with the reason that conference calling is quiet convenient when holding a conference with people who are in a large distance and face-to-face conversations are not fitting in. The next advantage of the conference calling is that you can always use various means to reach your needs and purposes.

For the main options we might include using the regular telephone line, internet and of course the most convenient mean of teleconferencing- cell phones. While the regular telephone line conference calls are a great opportunity to hold conferences for the huge companies, then the cell phones are much easier to use for the small businesses.

The thing here is that the small business needs are mostly limited to 4-5 people connections , while the smartphones such as iPhone can bridge up to 5 callers at the same time. This smartphone will provide you with a quiet efficient connection making it possible to get connected no matter of the caller destination with a proper connection.

Back in the pre-Internet era, people living far away would more often than not keep in touch via the mail, sending an occasional letter or package. In fact, many elementary schools took up pen-pal programs in order to communicate with cultures on the opposite ends of the world. Sure, the telephone was around and people could make long-distance and international calls, but prices were a bit expensive, not to mention that connections were usually choppy.

Once the Internet exploded on to the scene, people seemed to forget that the postal service even existed; emails replaced hand-written letters within no time. Actually, not many people can remember the last time they put a stamp on an envelope to send a message to a loved one.

When higher speeds and computer camera technology started to come out, video chat services like Skype became the next big thing, allowing people to connect from all over the world via a live Internet link. And with more and more people going abroad, either to study, intern or work, Skype is being utilized more and more as the primary means of communication since it is cheap and because people are able to see each other through a small video projector. There are, however, a few issues with Skype that most people tend to overlook.

To start, since many people use Skype to communicate internationally, the program tends to crash a lot. Because of the memory required to maintain a connection and run audio and video, Skype takes up a lot of bandwidth when making a call. For countries where the Internet infrastructure is not as developed as in the United States, this can cause delays in conversations, the video freezing suddenly or the entire call dropping. This is something that does not happen with most international calling plans or VoIP services.

The most important thing to understand about Skype, however, is that it is not a phone service; many people do not realize this. The system focuses primarily on computer-to-computer communication, using a high-speed Internet connection to link up a conversation. Granted, the service can call both landline and cell phones, but money has to be preloaded on to the program in order for that to work. Additionally, signing up for Skype does not mean receiving a phone number; members have to pay an extra fee to have and retain a personal Skype number.

But the biggest problem with Skype is the fact that many people rely on it as their primary phone without understanding that it is not possible to call 911 or other emergency services. Skype states this in their contract, but many tend to overlook it. Therefore, people who may use Skype for all of their phone and video chat communication cannot call the police if an emergency were to occur. This poses a serious problem to the many who blindly follow the popularity bandwagon of the program without seriously analyzing the rules and regulations.

Yet, the program still continues to grow and expand, incorporating itself on portable communication devices and smart phones. And because it is a phone company that is actually not a phone company, it seems that more problems could eventually arise in the future.

Guest author, Roger Collings runs his own telecoms consultancy from the UK and uses his knowledge to make sure that people get the right business telephone systems for their needs. With a wealth of knowledge on various technology and communications subjects, his expertise means that his articles are published around the Internet.

LG has announced that they are going to launch a new flagship smartphone LU2300 in the second quarter of this year, however, so far only in Korea. This device is very powerful with a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor and AMOLED-screen with an unknown diagonal and 800×480 pixels resolution. The new device is a bar phone, which leaves us with no hardware keyboard and only a huge touch screen.
LG LU2300 has a built-in 5 MP camera, which not only takes pictures, but also shoots 1280×720 pixels (HD) resolution videos.

However, the main feature of this smartphone, which runs Google Android OS – is the special system, called “Augmented reality”, which has been much talked about by the representatives of LG and Nokia. It’s a unique application, which gives information about anything caught by the camera within a few moments, whether it is a sight, unusual structure or just a city car.

The distribution of LG LU2300 is geographically limited to one country, cause LG wants to check whether a device with an “augmented reality” is demanded. If it is successful, LU2300 will be launched worldwide.

The price is not specified yet.

Thank goodness for modern technology, you can find anyone’s phone number, date of birth (DOB), place of work etc., just as long as you know their first and or last names – pretty simple huh?

The newest form of getting information is the Reverse Phone Lookup option, which is offered by many online based finders. The Reverse Phone Search is very useful in getting residential addresses or the location for a particular business that you have been searching for, and for posting a complaint or giving a feedback to whomever. In a nutshell, the Reverse Phone Lookup is one of the accurate ways of obtaining a phone number, addresses, the home or office address of a particular person or persons or a business location, which of course can be done via different types of internet services – that is, for a minimal fee.

Top Benefits of Reverse Phone Search:

a) Deal With Pranksters

Let’s face it, some people are just silly and will drive other people up the wall with their silliness. Pranksters love to have fun at other people’s expense, they call you in order to simply irritate, worry or scar you emotionally and the most annoying thing is that they do not even know you. With Reverse Phone Directory, you can nail ‘em! You will find out who has been calling you and harassing you over the phone (pranksters are such cowards) and hand he, she, or them over to the appropriate authorities.

b) Satisfy Your Curiosity

If you have been having sleepless nights worrying if your spouse or partner is cheating on you, maybe because probably when you were searching (okay, snooping!) through his or her text message records, a strange number that you cannot recognize keeps popping up on and in order to enjoy a blissful sleep you need to know who the number belongs to. With the Reverse Phone Search, you will be able to satisfy your curiosity.

c) Trace People

If you have been trying to trace a particular person in the past all to no avail – maybe an old school mate, relative, date etc if you use the Reverse Phone Lookup, you would be able to conveniently locate this person(s).

d) Find out an Individual’s criminal Past

With Reverse Phone Lookup services, you can find out if someone has a criminal record and has been lying to you about it the entire time, especially if the said person is socializing with someone dear to you.

The Reverse Phone Search is very easy to use, you do not need any special training in order to use this technology. All you need are the following:

A Computer

Internet connection

The phone number of the person or business you wish to locate

How to type

When you have the above listed requirements, then you are good to go!

Important Note:

You may not be able to obtain unlisted phone numbers in Reverse Phone Lookup, but you can still get other information such as the state, street address, city.
