One of the most sought after and hottest Android based offerings from HTC Corporation, The HTC Desire, is expected to get an update to the Android 2.2 Froyo Operating System in the middle of September at Orange UK. These handsets are already getting updates in the market however these updates are only applicable to the unlocked versions of the phone as there are many carrier specific handset models that are to get the update at a specific date in the future.
HTC recently disclosed that the other carriers in the UK market have already begun giving these updates for the HTC Desire models. Orange is expected to do this at a later stage. It is anticipated that the middle of September is going to be a fortunate time for Orange Desire users as this was disclosed in a recent tweet by Orange’s Conor Maples. He had apologized for the delay and said that the mobile version would be available with the update in the middle of September. The update on the phone would call in for a lesser degree of customization on the phone than required on the Android platform 2.1. No specific date has been announced by Orange for this update however it is anticipated that it would start updating the phones very soon.
