Acer has confirmed, that it plans to produce 10″ netbook Acer Aspire One, based on Linux, although previously announced only on Windows XP-version. Yesterday, a company representative said that the laptop will be available in versions «XP and Linux (Linpus), as well as HDD and SSD ».

However, it is noteworthy that the first buyers of Aspire One, which will be available in mid February at a price of about $425, will be deprived of choice. The price of Linux-version has not yet been reported.
SSD-drive will have a capacity of 16 GB, which is quite low, even for netbook, but the price factor in this case outweighs the others. Moreover, in contrast to the 8.9-inch version of Aspire One, the new model will have no second slot for SD-cards, so you won’t have the opportunity to increase your disk space.
