LG Secret KF750

Published by admin under LG

LG announced today their latest high-end slider called LG KF750 or otherwise LG Secret. It’s their third Black Label Series handset and it can surely steal some attention with both specs and looks. Of course, it seems ironic that LG codenamed their handset Secret, now that preliminary information about it leaked a couple of times in the past few weeks.

It’s been a busy week of new announcements - almost all of the major manufactures announced new models. Motorola Roadmap 2008 leaked six days ago, Nokia announced their new XpressMusic handsets two days ago, Sony Ericsson announced the G502 and Z780 yesterday, and LG are now announcing their LG KF750 Secret today. If Samsung are prepping something for tomorrow, we would have all the Top 5 major manufacturers covered. But we digress; let’s not steal the spotlight from the LG KF750 Secret.

The LG KF750 or LG Secret is the slimmest 5 megapixel cameraphone in the company portfolio (other than that only Samsung F480 and Sony Ericsson C902 can beat its slimness). It features a bunch of high tech materials and solutions such as a carbon fiber back panel, tempered glass over the display and Neon Touch Navigation buttons with touch sensitivity.

The LG KF750 Secret has borrowed several intriguing features form the LG Viewty such as the DivX playback and 120 fps QVGA video recording. Building on that base it offers even more advanced functions such as a built-in accelerometer. Beside the auto rotating display, the preinstalled games make good use of it - you can throw darts, hook a fish or navigate a maze simply by tilting the handset.

The large QVGA 2.4-inch 262K color TFT display can auto adjust its brightness thanks to the ambient light sensor. The LG KF750 also delivers HSDPA 3.6Mbps, Bluetooth, 100MB built-in memory expandable with the MicroSD memory card slot and FM radio with RDS.

LG are launching the phone today, but details about availability and pricing are still not known

Nokia N82 in Black

Published by admin under Nokia

As a matter of principle, we very rarely carry stories about handsets being launched in a different colour from the original. A new coat of paint does not make a new phone, but in the case of the Nokia N82 in Black (or “Nokia N82 in black” as Nokia like to call it in lowercase) there’s a little more to this variant than just a different colour.

Most features are identical to the original Nokia N82, but the Black version now supports geotagging, a feature that was all the rage at last month’s big Mobile World Congress event. Put simply, this version of the N82 will record the GPS position of your photograph, so its exact location is recorded. This is useful for sorting photos, but certain filesharing sites can also read the GPS location data for easy identification.

Although it’s a fairly normal looking phone, the Nokia N82 comes with A-GPS (assisted GPS), a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, WiFi, HSDPA high-speed data, 3G UMTS / WCDMA, a stereo FM radio and microSD expandable memory. This is basically the same package as on the original N82 - so it’s a pretty formidable handset underneath.

In addition, the black N82 comes with a free trial of Nokia’s navigation package, support for N-Gage gaming and on top of that, this is a Symbian S60 smartphone - so users can add more applications later.

This is really just a software upgrade of the original platform, so presumably owners of the original silver N82 will be able to upgrade their handsets to support geotagging. It would be nice if this was enable for N95, N95 8GB and E90 customers too.

Nokia say that the N82 in Black should be available during Q2 2008, at an estimated price of around €400 / £300 / $600 or so before tax and subsidy.
